All proceeds to the Mohanam Cultural Center

This event is being supported by KEXP 90.3FM, the South Asian Students Association of UW, UW CHID,ASUW's Rainydawg radio, and a number of local businesses.

The “Mohanam Cultural Center,” in Sangivi Nagar, Tamil Nadu, India, does very important and unique work, bringing the last remaining masters of the ancient arts of Tamil Nadu, and teaching these dying dance, martial art, and music traditions to the next generation of children and young adults. Further, they maintain a dynamized water system that provides clean drinking water for most of their village of 2,000 people. Unfortunately, the Mohanam Center is out of funding completely, and in danger of closing down.

Allowing internships for UW students at their own expense, this event seeks to ensure the Mohanam center can remain open. Since the dollar goes so much farther than the rupee, they can run their entire operation (which includes feeding and educating 200 children everyday and running the dynamized water system) for about 2 months on $1,000.
